iOS 5 is expected to be released within the next month and one of the new features will allow iPad 2 users to mirror anything on the tablet to an Apple TV.
Developers are already integrating AirPlay into their apps but with AirPlay Mirroring everything on an iPad 2 can be displayed wirelessly to a big screen TV, if you have an Apple TV set-top box.
Here’s a photo of an NBC app playing on an iPad 2 and being wirelessly mirrored to an HDTV.
The NBC app was recently updated to allow users to watch full length episodes. The video displays in 720p, I expanded the TV screen size to make the show fit the screen. The video quality is decent but I would love to see it displayed in 1080p.
Apple will also roll out Photo Stream with iOS 5 and iCloud. The Photo Stream service automatically uploads the photos you take or import on any of your iOS device and wirelessly push it to your iCloud account, so they can be viewed on all your iOS devices, computers and Apple TV.
