Apple has sent out invites to members of the press for a media event to be held on Wednesday, March 7 2012 in San Francisco. The invite shows a photo of an iPad with the message “We have something you really have to see. And touch.”
It’s obvious that the event is mainly about iPads but Apple is famous for it’s “one more thing.” While there’s nothing on the invite that references Apple TV, it’s almost just as obvious that the set top box will get an update. As we posted last week, retailers are out of stock of the current second generation Apple TVs and that hasn’t changed.
9to5Mac is claiming to have reliable sources that say Apple will launch a new Apple TV at the upcoming iPad event. They also found evidence in iOS code that references a new Apple TV (J33).
We would be shocked if the new Apple TV doesn’t support 1080p and have a new processor. We also know that there is code that indicates that Apple TV will support Bluetooth.
Could Apple be including a new Wii style Bluetooth remote that would support Siri? That is just a guess but we only have a few days before we will know for sure.
