Apple to showcase it’s three-screen strategy

Published on October 3, 2011 by

We know tomorrow’s “Let’s Talk iPhone” event will mainly focus on the iPhone but according to well know blogger Robert Scoble, we may see AirPlay features shown over and over again tomorrow to drive home Apple’s new three-screen strategy (iPhone, iPad and AppleTV.)

Scoble recently interviewed the developers of the Band of the Day App. This is a universal app for the iPhone and iPad that will also display content on a big screen TV via Apple TV and AirPlay. The interesting thing is the video on the TV is different than what’s on the iPhone or iPad. In other words, instead of mirroring the content from an iDevice, the app displays its own unique content for the TV. This allows you to continue using your phone or tablet while viewing content from the app on your TV.

Scoble believes we will see several such demos at tomorrows event. He went on to say “I’m hearing that Apple is working on a new iPad app that looks a lot like DirecTV without the dish.” There have been rumors that Apple could be working on a TV subscription service that would compete against Netflix and cable providers.

We shall find tomorrow what all Apple has in store. The event starts at 10:00 am pacific time.
