The duo from AllThingsD tried to pry information out of Apple’s CEO, but for most of the interview Cook stayed tight lipped as possible. However, Cook did reveal that Apple has sold over 13 million Apple TVs and about half of that was over the last year (that only includes 2nd and 3rd gen. Apple TVs). Not bad for a device that gets almost no marketing.
When pressed, Cook did stated that there is a “grand vision” for Apple TV, but declined to comment as to when a new Apple TV would be released. The Apple CEO said Apple has gained much more knowledge about TV by doing Apple TV, then they would have had without it. He continued to say it’s an area of “incredible interest” for Apple.
It’s obvious that Apple has plans for stepping up it’s game in the living room, but what those plans are and when it will happen remains a secret that Apple will keep until the time is right.
