Developer Hjalti Jakobsson enabled Siri to control a TV using a Plex plugin to give us a glimpse of how an Apple television might work.
Rumors of an Apple television were ignited with the release of Steve Jobs biography. The book revealed that Jobs has ‘finally cracked it,’ the solution would be an easy to use, integrated television that would do for televisions what Jobs had done for computer, music players, phones and tablets.
“No longer would users have to fiddle with complex remotes for DVD players and cable channels. It will have the simplest user interface you could imagine,” according to what Jobs told the author Walter Issacson.
Analysts have been predicting that Siri voice control is what Jobs meant when he stated the television would have the simplest interface you could imagine.
Thanks to a plugin written by Jakobsson for the Plex media server we can see in this video how a voice controlled television could make our life a little easier.
