Coming several days after the release of iOS 6, Apple has finally got around to updating Apple TV to iOS 5.1. This latest version adds shared photo streams, the ability to send audio to AirPlay enabled speakers from an Apple TV, reorder icons on the main screen, new screen savers and more.

Apple TV iOS 6

Here is a list of all the new features.

Shared Photo Streams
Accept invitations for Shared Photo Streams, browse photos and comments, and receive notifications of new content.

Send audio content from Apple TV to AirPlay-enabled speakers and devices (including AirPort Express and other Apple TVs). Also includes the ability to require an onscreen code to use AirPlay with your Apple TV.

iTunes account switching
Save multiple iTunes accounts and switch quickly between them.

Search movie trailers. In the United States, see show times for local theaters.

Screen savers
New Cascade, Shrinking Tiles, and Sliding Panels screen savers.

Main menu
Reorder icons on the second page by holding down the select button on the remote.

SDH support for the deaf and hard-of-hearing as well as improvements to viewing and selecting subtitles.

Network configuration
Support for setting up advanced network options using configuration profiles. See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5437 for more information.

Stability and performance
Includes general performance and stability improvements.

Note: If you have a jailbroken Apple TV 2, you should wait until there is a compatible jailbreak before you update. If you are wanting to jailbreak a 2nd or 3rd generation Apple TV in the future, you should save your SHSH blobs using TinyUmbrella or hold off on updating altogether.

I have Appletv and Ipad. Ipad receives Filmon perfectly and was connecting to Apple TV perfectly but recently I had a “502 Bad Gateway” error. This had disappeared by the following morning but since then the ipad will not connect to the Apple TV. The Appletv is recognised by the ipad but clicking on Apple tv logo causes the sound on the ipad to disappear and sometimes odd things appear on the tv screen but not what is on the ipad. I have re-set the Apple TV and the Ipad. Filmon do not reply to my query.
Is there anything that anyone could help with.
